Here is a visual that will aid in the understanding of how a
protagonist and an antagonist look in Dystopian Literature. Basically, the
CONTROL serves as the antagonist that the protagonist must overcome. But, that control can take on the form of a person, as President Snow stands in for
BUREAUCRATIC CONTROL in
The Hunger Games, as does the Handicapper General in "
Harrison Bergeron". Or, say the townspeople with their
PHILOSOPHICAL BELIEFS in
"The Lottery".
The characters become symbols of the control.
