"The Lottery" essay and MLA Format

Today we will devote the entire class to writing your essay about the Theme and The Dramatic Arc of "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson.

If you follow the organizational layout you worked on last Thursday, the essay should write itself.

Please use the MLA Format for your essay.

General Guidelines

• Double-space the text 
•  Times New Roman
•  12 pt font size.
• Leave only one space after periods or other punctuation marks 
• Set the margins of your document to 1 inch on all sides.
• Indent the first line of paragraphs one half-inch from the left margin using the TAB key (5 spaces). 
• NO title page 
• In the upper left-hand corner of the first page
• your name
• instructor's name
• course name
• date. 
• double-spaced text
• Double space again and center the title. 
• Do not underline, italicize, or place your title in quotation marks
• Standard capitalization of title - not in all capital letters.
• Double space between the title and the first line of the text.
• Create a header in the upper right-hand corner that includes your last name, followed by a space with a page number
